Our Work

VISION Distressed communities have the capacity to build stable housing, create employment, and further the economic and social development of their neighbourhoods. MISSION The mission of the CDC is to promote the renewal of distressed neighbourhoods through a Community Economic Development approach. Edmonton’s CDC will create a new approach that helps families increase financial security, enables inclusive economic development and fosters thriving communities.
Community Development Corporations tend to do the following types of work:
  • Build and repair homes
  • Support the development or rehabilitation of  small businesses
  • Develop vacant lots or parcels of land that address neighbourhood needs/aspirations.
  • Teach and/or support job finding and financial literacy skills
  • Train workers
  • Engage community members
  • Create and implement plans for neighbourhood redevelopment
