The Piazza Project has been profiled on the Edmonton Community Foundation’s Well-Endowed Podcast!
“The Scale of the project was massive for a community-driven initiative,” explains Well-Endowed host Andrew Paul. “[The community] needed support researching and deciding on the structure of a legal entity to pull it off. They needed support putting their offer together. And, most importantly, they needed help finding money to get that complex process started.”
This 27-minute episode offers great insight into the history of the McCauley community and the events that led a group of residents and business owners to take positive action through purchasing a neighbourhood strip mall. Learn more about the project from the people and groups who helped make it happen!

With only a few hours left on their fundraising deadline, the MDC’s community-minded investors raised the $1M needed for The Piazza project in Edmonton’s Little Italy to proceed with their development plan.
Says Miranda Ringma, Board Member of the MDC: “The Board of the McCauley Development Co-operative is in awe of this roster of investors! They dug deep to raise the $1M we needed to proceed. So many awesome folks trusted us and invested because they want to be part of building on our great community. It truly is a gift and we couldn’t be more excited.”
